Domains which are hosted under the .kz TLD - the ccTLD for Kazakhstan - are subject to additional regulations in their registration and use.
For domains hosted in the .kz namespace:
- Hosting must be in Kazakhstan for the main domain and for subdomains, i.e. A (ipv4), AAAA (ipv6), CNAME records (except for DNS and mail records) for the domain in the zone .KZ, www subdomains, and other subdomains are required to refer to IP addresses assigned to the AS (autonomous system) and announced in Kazakhstan. Whois by IP address must display the value country-KZ.
- DNS hosting and mail services can be placed in any country.
- NS (DNS server), MX (mail server), TXT, and SPF records can refer to services and IP addresses in any country without restrictions.
With regards to UltraDNS we do not at this time have servers which announce from within Kazakhstan, but per the above authoritative DNS servers themselves are not subject to this requirement. This means that we may act as the authoritative DNS for any .kz zones, but be advised that the endpoints for the relevant record types above must still point to resources within Kazakhstan.
