UltraDNS supports Two Factor Mobile Authentication (2FA) as an extra layer of security for the UltraDNS Managed Services Portal (UltraDNS Portal). This is an optional tool that you can choose to enable on your accounts at no extra expense.
Currently, there are two methods of Two Factor Authentication that users can choose to enroll their account in.

SMS (Text) Based Two Factor Authentication.

QR Code Based Two Factor Authentication.
Once enabled, a six-digit verification code will be required to log into your account. Once the code has been verified, you will be logged in and have full access to the UltraDNS Portal and your account.
SMS Based Two Factor Authentication

Once you are logged into the UltraDNS Portal, click the My Profile link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Verify that there is an accurate and up-to-date Mobile Number provided, as this will be the mobile number to which the verification code is sent to.
Please adhere to the E.164 international format for mobile numbers. Your mobile number should be entered as follows: + (country code)(phone number with no spaces or dashes). For a list of country codes, please see the SMS Based Two Factor Authentication Supported Country Codes. For example a number in the US would look like this: +11234567890 |

Click Save.

Next, click the Security Preferences tab. Scroll down to the SMS Two Factor Authentication section, click on the drop-down menu and select Enabled.

An error message will appear if any of the following issues arise:

User has not provided the mobile number in the My Profile section.

QR Code Based Two Factor Authentication is currently enabled.

The Two Factor Mobile Authentication service is currently down.

The Mobile Number provided is not in the correct format.

Check your mobile device for a text message containing a six-digit verification code, and then enter the number into the “Enter Verification Code” section on the UI Portal log in screen.

You will only have 60 seconds to enter the code, otherwise, you will need to click the Resend Verification Code button to get a new six-digit code.

Click the Submit button when done.

If the six-digit code is verified, a confirmation message will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to inform you that SMS 2FA has been enabled.
Additionally, an email confirmation will be sent to the email address on file notifying you of the enrollment in Two Factor Mobile Authentication.
Logging In With SMS Based Two Factor Mobile Authentication Enabled
Once SMS Based 2FA has been enabled, each login request will require a Verification Code be provided. After your username and password have been provided, the Verification Code will be sent to the mobile number on file. Enter the six-digit code into the Verification Code box on the screen and click Login. If the code is valid, the UltraDNS Portal will appear.
Possible errors include

Invalid Verification Code – Three attempts can be made to log in with a Verification Code before a new one must be requested.

Expired Verification Code – A Verification Code is only valid for 2 minutes. You will need to request a new Verification Code.

UltraDNS Portal is currently unavailable – Please try again shortly.
If a Verification Code is not received after logging in, click the Resend Verification Code button to have a new one generated. The Resend Verification Code button is disabled until the 60 second counter has elapsed to prevent additional Verification Codes from being sent. If you receive multiple verification codes, use the most recent code received.
Disabling SMS Based Two Factor Mobile Authentication

To disable the SMS Based 2FA, click on the My Profile link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Click the Security Preferences tab.

In the SMS Based Two Factor Authentication section, select the Disabled option from the drop-down menu.

You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully disabled the Two Factor Mobile Authentication feature.
Additionally, an email confirmation will be sent to the email address on file notifying you Two Factor Mobile Authentication has been disabled.
If you no longer have access to the mobile number on the My Profile section, contact Customer Support for further assistance.
The REST API does not support Two Factor Mobile Authentication. If you try to perform any REST API calls for an account that has Two Factor Mobile Authentication enabled, an error message will be returned. To perform REST API calls, you must first disable Two Factor Mobile Authentication before continuing. |
