In some cases, a single domain may require different zone transfer settings than the rest of the domains in the account. This article explains how to override account-level zone transfer settings and apply domain-specific configuration.
If zone transfers are not configured at the account level, these steps may not apply. However, understanding account-level settings is still recommended.
How Zone Transfer Settings Work
UltraDNS supports zone transfer settings at both the account level and the domain level. By default, domains inherit account-level settings unless explicitly overridden.
How to Configure Domain-Specific Zone Transfer Settings
- In the UltraDNS portal, click Accounts from the left menu.
- Select the account, then click the Zone Transfer Settings tab.
- Review the account-level settings, which may include Restrict IPs, Notify NS, and TSIG Key.
- Click Domains from the left menu.
- Select the domain you want to configure, then click the Zone Transfer tab.
- Locate the Inherit Account Settings option. This is enabled by default and applies account-level settings to the domain.
- Uncheck Inherit Account Settings for the settings you want to modify.
- Configure the required zone transfer settings for this domain only.
- Click Save.
- Reopen the domain to confirm the settings were saved correctly.
Important Notes
- By default, domains inherit zone transfer settings from the account level.
- Disabling inheritance allows domain-specific configuration without affecting other domains.
- Changes made at the domain level apply only to that domain.
