This article explains how to reduce or disable zone transfer notification emails in UltraDNS, including how threshold settings affect when notifications are sent.
Option 1 - Reduce Number of Emails
- Log in to UltraDNS.
- Click Accounts.
- Select {accountName}.
- Click the Notification Settings tab.
- Locate the Zone Transfer Notification section.
- Enter a Threshold value, up to 100000.
- Set Email Notification from Disabled to Enabled.
- Enter the email address to receive zone transfer notifications.
This setting replaces the existing notification behavior. The threshold is applied as 1 plus the configured value. The first zone transfer failure and first recovery always generate a notification. Additional notifications are only sent once the threshold is reached. For example, if the threshold is set to 10000, you receive one notification for the first failure and another notification after failures 2 through 10001 occur.
Option 2 - Disable Emails
- Log in to UltraDNS.
- Click Accounts.
- Select {accountName}.
- Click the Notification Settings tab.
- Locate the Zone Transfer Notification section.
- Set Email Notification to Enabled.
- Set Threshold to any value.
- Enter any email address.
- Click Save.
- Set Email Notification to Disabled.
- Click Save.
Important Notes
- You must be an admin or primary user to update notification and threshold settings.
- Disabling notifications may prevent you from being alerted to legitimate zone transfer issues.
- If the interface shows notifications as disabled but emails are still being sent, this is due to legacy zone level settings. Older accounts may not have account-wide settings configured, which causes the UI to appear disabled even though notifications are active at the zone level. Enabling account-wide settings and then disabling them removes both zone-level and account-level notifications.
