This article explains how to convert a Resource Distribution pool into a directional DNS configuration by retaining a single A record and proceeding with directional setup.
How to Convert the Resource Distribution Pool
- Log in to UltraDNS.
- Click Domains.
- Select the domain containing the Resource Distribution pool you want to convert.
- Select the checkbox next to the RD Pool you are converting.
- Click Delete Selected.
- Under Retain Record, select the A record you want to keep and click Delete. At this stage, only one A record remains and all traffic will resolve to that record.
- On the next screen, confirm the retained record is now a single A record.
- Proceed to Convert an "A" Record or CNAME into a Geolocation Directional DNS Pool without an Outage to complete the conversion.
Important Notes
- Deleting the RD Pool removes all associated records except the one selected to retain.
- Traffic will resolve only to the retained A record until directional configuration is completed.
