This article answers common questions about UltraDNS reporting, query analytics, hostname reporting, source IP reporting, export limitations, and usage reporting data.
When to Use This Article
- You are reviewing DNS query data in UltraDNS reports.
- You need to understand reporting limitations or export behavior.
- You are comparing totals shown in reports with exported data.
- You want to locate source IP reporting information.
- You need clarification about hostname query reporting results.
How Do I View Queries by Source IP?
To view query activity by source IP address, refer to:
Why Does the Overall Total Not Match the Sum of the Exported Rows?
The overall totals displayed in Report Center represent the complete dataset.
Exports are limited to a maximum of 10,000 rows.
If your report contains more than 10,000 rows, the exported data will not include every row available in the report.
As a result, adding the exported rows together may produce a lower total than the overall value displayed in the UltraDNS report.
Can I Get the Top 10,000 Most Queried Hostnames Across My Entire Account?
No.
UltraDNS reporting can provide:
- The top queried domain names across the account.
- The top queried hostnames within an individual domain.
UltraDNS reporting does not provide the top queried hostnames across all domains in an account as a single report.
Can I Generate a Report Showing Hostnames That Have Never Been Queried?
No.
UltraDNS reporting only displays hostname activity that has generated query traffic.
Hostnames that have not received queries are not included in Report Center results.
Why Do I See Queries for Hostnames That Do Not Exist in My Zone?
Report Center tracks queries received for subdomains beneath a domain in your account, regardless of whether a corresponding DNS record exists in the zone configuration.
As a result, hostname query reports may contain queried hostnames that are not currently configured as DNS records within the zone.
Why Are Advanced Service Usage Counts Different from Current Configuration Totals?
Usage values shown in Basic Reporting are monthly averages rather than real-time totals.
For example, if an account contained:
-
30SiteBacker records during part of the month -
40SiteBacker records during part of the month
The reported value would display the monthly average of 35, not the current total of 40.
Important Notes
- Report exports are limited to 10,000 rows.
- Hostname reports only include queried hostnames.
- Hostname reports may include queried subdomains that are not configured as records in the zone.
- Usage reporting values may represent monthly averages rather than current configuration counts.
