This article explains how to view UltraDNS usage details and query volume thresholds in the UltraDNS portal using the Usage Summary report.
When to Use This Article
- You need to view account usage in UltraDNS.
- You need to check DNS query response volume for your account.
- You need to review whether usage is approaching or exceeding your contracted threshold.
- You need to view contracted and in-use service package details.
Before You Begin
You must have access to the UltraDNS portal and permission to view reports for the account.
Steps
- Log in to UltraDNS.
- Select Reports.
- Select Usage Summary.
- Review the Monthly Usage report to view account usage for prior months.
- Review the Service Package details to compare contracted usage with current usage.
What the Usage Summary Shows
The Usage Summary report provides usage data for your UltraDNS account. Depending on your account configuration, the report can include details such as:
- Domain counts
- Record counts
- DNS query responses
- URL or Web Forwarding usage
- SiteBacker records
- Traffic Controller records
- Directional records or pools
- Managed certificates, if Certificate Management is enabled for the account
Usage Color Indicators
The Usage Summary report may display usage values using color indicators:
- Red: 100% usage. Contract threshold exceeded.
- Orange: 90% to 99.9% usage. Usage is close to the threshold.
- Yellow: 80% to 89% usage. Usage is approaching the threshold.
- White: Less than 80% usage. No action is needed at this time.
Expected Outcome
You can view your UltraDNS usage, query response volume, service package details, and current usage status from the Usage Summary report.
Important Notes
- The standard Monthly Usage report displays historical usage data for the last 36 months.
- For UltraDNS2-enabled accounts, the Usage Summary report can return the last 13 months of data.
- If usage is near or above the contracted threshold, contact UltraDNS Support to review threshold options.
