This article explains how to test authoritative DNS resolution using an external tool. This allows you to query UltraDNS name servers directly and verify the configured DNS response.
How to Test Authoritative DNS Resolution
- Go to http://www.digwebinterface.com.
- Enter the hostnames or IP addresses you want to test in Hostnames or IP addresses.
- Select Specify myself under Nameservers.
- Enter the UltraDNS name servers you want to test.
- Use the name servers assigned to you by Customer Support.
- You can also view these in your account settings.
- Click Dig.
How to Interpret Results
The Dig results should match the DNS records configured for the hostname in the UltraDNS portal.
If Results Do Not Match
If the results do not match what is configured in UltraDNS, begin by collecting diagnostic data and proceed with troubleshooting.
