This article explains how to locate and edit an existing SiteBacker pool in the UltraDNS Managed Services Portal. Use this process when you need to update SiteBacker pool settings, pool records, probes, scheduled events, notifications, or alerts.
When to Use This Article
- You need to update an existing SiteBacker pool in UltraDNS.
- You need to add, edit, or remove records from a SiteBacker pool.
- You need to update SiteBacker probing, failover, scheduled event, notification, or alert settings.
Before You Begin
Confirm that you have access to the UltraDNS account and domain that contains the SiteBacker pool. The pool appears in the matching record section for the record type used by the pool, such as A, AAAA, or CNAME.
Edit a SiteBacker Pool
- Log in to UltraDNS.
- Select Domains from the left navigation menu.
- Select the domain that contains the SiteBacker pool.
- On the Records tab, locate the record section that contains the SiteBacker pool.
- Select the edit icon next to the SiteBacker pool that you want to update.
- Update the applicable pool settings, pool records, probes, scheduled events, notifications, or alerts.
- Select Save or Save Changes to apply the update.
What You Can Update
SiteBacker pools include multiple editable sections. Depending on your permissions and the pool configuration, you can update pool information, the records list, probe definitions, scheduled events, notifications, and alerts.
- Pool Information controls pool level behavior such as description, failover, probing, response method, maximum active records, maximum served records, and failure threshold.
- Records List controls the records associated with the SiteBacker pool, including record state, probing, priority, failover delay, restoration delay, and All Fail behavior.
- Probes controls the monitoring checks used to determine whether records are available to serve.
- Scheduled Events allows planned changes to record serving behavior.
- Notifications controls email notifications for probe events, record events, and scheduled events.
- Alerts displays probe related alerts for the pool.
Expected Outcome
After the update is saved, the SiteBacker pool uses the new configuration. Review the pool details after saving to confirm that the intended changes are displayed in the portal.
Important Notes
- A SiteBacker pool cannot contain both A and AAAA records. Separate pools are required for each record type.
- Some fields may not be editable depending on the pool configuration, record type, or user permissions.
- If you are changing probes or failover behavior, confirm that the updated configuration matches the intended traffic management behavior before relying on the pool in production.
