Changing an A record with Minimal Impact to Site Resolution

Following these phases and steps will allow you to make changes to your A record with minimal impact.

Phase 1

1. Log into UltraDNS
2. Click Domains
3. Click the domain that you wish to update
4. Click Edit
5. Change the TTL for the affected A record to 60 seconds
6. Click Save

Phase 2

1. Log into UltraDNS
2. Click Domains
3. Click the domain that you wish to update
4. Click Edit
5. Change the affected A record to the new IP address
6. Click Save
7. Verify that everything is working correctly
8. Change the TTL back to the original
9. Click Save

Additional Information

• Phase 1 must be done at least 24 hours prior to the planned change to the A record
• Phase 2 can be done when you are ready to make the actual A record change
• Changing your TTL to a shorter time will increase your query count for that record
