Does enabling Valimail Monitor change my DNS settings?
Will this work on all my domains?
Valimail is a leading DMARC SaaS provider that automates email authentication to prevent phishing and spoofing, and helps organizations interpret Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) data and strengthen email protection policies. It has maintained a #1 G2 ranking for DMARC for over 14 consecutive quarters (as of Q1 2026), with high praise for its automated enforcement, onboarding support, and visibility dashboards.
Now a part of the DigiCert suite of products, and in conjunction with UltraDNS, Valimail powers the monitoring and reporting experience through the Valimail Monitor dashboard.

What is DMARC, and why does it matter?
DMARC is an email authentication standard that helps protect your domains from spoofing and impersonation. It gives you visibility into who is sending emails on behalf of your domain before you move to enforcement.
DMARC is a DNS-based security directive that tells receiving email servers how to handle messages claiming to be from your domain that fail SPF or DKIM authentication. It acts as a safety measure against phishing, spoofing, and fraud.
DMARC Reporting with Valimail
As experts in email authentication, Valimail helps organizations understand DMARC data and move confidently toward full enforcement. Their platform turns complex XML-based reports into actionable insights. Start with a free Valimail Monitor account to get a global view of the traffic being sent on your behalf, as well as what email is passing or failing DMARC, SPF, and DKIM.
With a FREE Monitor account, you can:
- Help identify who’s sending emails using your domain (including third-party services)
- View authentication results (SPF and DKIM pass/fail) in a visual dashboard
- Detect unauthorized senders attempting to spoof your domain
- Track your progress as you strengthen your DMARC policy towards enforcement
- Identify configuration issues that could impact your email deliverability
Valimail Monitor provides a clear breakdown of how your email is delivered.
Why it matters
DMARC helps protect your domains from spoofing and impersonation by giving you visibility into who is sending email as your brand and whether those senders are properly authenticated.
The challenge is that DMARC adoption has often been harder than it should be. Many organizations have relied on separate tools, separate accounts, and separate workflows just to begin monitoring their domains. As a result, many domains either have no DMARC record at all or have only basic monitoring in place without active review.
That leaves security and IT teams with limited visibility into their email ecosystem.
What you will see
Once enabled, DMARC aggregate reports flow into the Valimail Monitor dashboard, where they are translated into clear, actionable insight.
You can quickly see:
- Which services are sending emails on behalf of your domains
- Which senders are properly authenticated
- Which senders are failing authentication
- Whether unauthorized sources may be attempting to impersonate your domains
This visibility gives teams the foundation they need to understand their sending environment before moving toward stricter DMARC enforcement.

Why monitoring comes first
Monitoring is the safest place to start. It allows you to identify legitimate senders, uncover authentication gaps, and detect unauthorized activity without affecting email flow.
Because monitoring mode does not block or filter messages, you can build an accurate picture of your email ecosystem before deciding whether to move to stricter DMARC policies.
Part of DigiCert’s integrated platform
This integration brings together UltraDNS and Valimail as part of DigiCert’s broader DNS and email security portfolio.
By connecting DNS management and email authentication monitoring into one experience, DigiCert is making it easier for customers to strengthen domain protection without adding more tools or operational overhead.
For organizations ready to go further, Valimail also provides additional resources to go from monitoring to enforcement. Once legitimate senders are identified and properly authenticated, teams can move toward stronger DMARC policies with greater confidence.
Unlock actionable visibility into your domain's email activity and take control of your email security posture.
Does enabling Valimail Monitor change my DNS settings?
If no DMARC record exists, UltraDNS will create one configured for monitoring-only. If a DMARC record already exists, UltraDNS will add the Valimail reporting address without changing your existing policy or overwriting your current settings.
Will this affect email delivery?
No. Monitoring mode does not affect email flow. Messages are not blocked, filtered, or redirected.
Do I need a Valimail account?
Yes. A Valimail account is required to access your DMARC reporting dashboard. You can create an account here. If you already have a Valimail account, please log in here.
Is there an additional cost?
No. The Valimail Monitor integration in UltraDNS is included as part of your existing service. A free Valimail account provides access to DMARC aggregate reporting at no additional cost.
Who can enable this?
Only the Owner and Administrative users in your account can enable Valimail Monitor on UltraDNS.
Will this work on all my domains?
Valimail Monitor supports primary zones with standard DNS TXT records. In the initial release, it does not support secondary zones, alias zones, advanced pool configurations, or reverse DNS zones. If a domain is not eligible, the UltraDNS portal will notify you.
Additionally, domains with the following features are not eligible to be enabled:
- Multiple DMARC TXT records
An existing Valimail DMARC record (NS, TXT, or CNAME)
A pool that contains a DMARC record
A secondary or alias domain
A zone signed by NSEC or NSEC3
What if I already use Valimail?
If your domains already have Valimail monitoring or protection configured, the UltraDNS integration will recognize that setup and will not duplicate or overwrite it. Your enabled status will be visible on the Domains page as a green checkmark in the Valimail Monitor column.
