Valimail Monitor is enabled by default on all UltraDNS accounts to automatically start DMARC reporting for eligible domains.
This ensures domains begin collecting DMARC data without manual setup and provides immediate visibility into email authentication activity.
Why It Is Enabled by Default
Many domains either do not have DMARC configured or lack visibility into authentication results. Default enablement ensures reporting begins early and provides insight into sending sources and potential unauthorized activity.
What This Does and Does Not Do
Valimail Monitor operates in monitoring mode only. It collects DMARC aggregate reports and provides visibility into authentication activity. It does not block, filter, or modify email delivery, and it does not enforce quarantine or reject policies.
How Domain Eligibility Is Applied
The integration is applied at the domain level. Only domains that meet eligibility requirements are enabled, and domains that do not qualify are skipped automatically.
Impact on Existing Configurations
Existing DMARC configurations are preserved. Policies are not overwritten, and third-party solutions such as Proofpoint continue to function as configured. No changes are made where conflicts or unsupported configurations are detected.
Why There Is No Simple Toggle
Valimail Monitor is not exposed as a simple on or off setting because enablement depends on domain-level eligibility and DNS conditions.
Important Notes
- Monitoring mode provides visibility only and does not affect mail flow
- Enablement occurs only where technically valid
