If you try to enable SAML authentication in the UltraDNS test portal and receive error 9015 during setup, this is expected behavior. SAML cannot be configured in the test environment because the required backend components are not available there.
What you may see
When submitting a SAML setup request in the test portal, the request fails immediately and does not save.
- Error message:
errorCode 9015 - System error while provisioning SAML vanityurl - The error occurs regardless of the vanity URL you enter
- No confirmation email is sent
- No SAML configuration appears after submission
Why this happens
The UltraDNS test portal does not have the required infrastructure to support SAML provisioning. Even though the SAML setup option is visible in the UI, the backend services needed to create and manage SAML configurations are not deployed in the test environment. Because of this, any setup request fails immediately with a system error.
What you should do instead
SAML should only be configured in the production UltraDNS portal.
In production, the SAML setup request will be accepted, processed, and persist once completed. The test portal is intended for DNS data validation and testing, but not for authentication configuration such as SAML.
Important notes
- SAML configuration does not persist in the test portal, even if it were temporarily enabled
- The test environment is periodically refreshed, which removes account-level configuration
- Error 9015 in this scenario is not caused by input format or user configuration
