Hi UltraDNS Community! I’m excited to share the details about our latest feature release. These updates are all about making DNS management easier, more secure, and tailored to your needs. Whether it’s about improving security, automating tasks, or simplifying integration, these features are designed to make your workflow smoother and more effective. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new.

Configurable HTTP Probe Headers

This feature lets you customize HTTP probe headers for more precise monitoring. It’s great for testing server setups or simulating real user traffic to improve how you track performance.

Benefits:

  • Fine-tune your DNS monitoring to match your needs.
  • Get better accuracy by mimicking real-world traffic.
  • Understand server performance more clearly.

Why This Matters: Being able to customize probe headers gives you better control over monitoring. It helps ensure your checks are accurate and aligned with what’s happening on your network.

Restoration Delay for Pool Records

With this feature, you can control how long a DNS record stays healthy before it’s restored to service. This helps avoid constant flipping between states, also known as “flapping.”

Benefits:

  • Keep your DNS configurations steady.
  • Reduce service interruptions caused by rapid state changes.
  • Ensure a smoother user experience.

Why This Matters: Stabilizing how records are restored improves the reliability of your DNS environment and ensures that users aren’t disrupted by unnecessary changes.

Null MX Records

This feature adds a new layer of security to your email infrastructure. You can configure Null MX records for subdomains that don’t handle email, while keeping your main domain unaffected. 

Benefits:

  • Block spam and phishing aimed at unused subdomains.
  • Stay compliant with DNSSEC and RFC7505 standards.
  • Have better control over how your email is routed.

Why This Matters: Adding Null MX Records helps protect your domain from misuse, while keeping your email setup clean and secure.

CAA Enhancements

We’ve improved CAA records by adding new options to manage email certificates and enable Verified Mark Certificates (VMC) for branded email.

Benefits:

  • Define who can issue certificates for your email domains.
  • Use VMC to boost trust and visibility with your brand logo.
  • Strengthen your control over email security. 

Why This Matters: These updates make your email communication more secure and help you build trust with your users by displaying your brand’s logo in verified emails.
